She was a 1961 graduate of Richwoods High School in Peoria and a member of Charter Oak Bible Church in Peoria, where she played piano and served as Sunday School Secretary.

Jeanne was an accomplished pianist and singer, who traveled to different bases in the 1960s with the USO, including Rantoul Air Force Base in Illinois.

She was a member of Toastmasters International District 19, where she served as Division D Governor, Junior Achievement, The March of Dimes and The Red Hat Society. She also enjoyed arts and crafts.

Even though she had many hobbies and was very active in her community, her favorite thing to do was to spend time with her grandchildren.

I met Jeanne when I started working at Sears Credit in Des Moines.  She was my trainer.  I had great respect for her, she made learning the job fun!  We very quickly became friends.  She had a heart of gold, and there wasn't a thing she wouldn't do to help someone in need.  She was like a second mother to me, she even called herself my "Other Mother."  I smile and tear up at the same time when I think about that.  I will miss her always, and feel truly blessed to have had her friendship.

When we were at the funeral i cried and i am very sad she died, i wrote a note and i put it in the casket (COFFIN) and when she is in heaven she can read and i hope she will like it.

Jeanne was our family friend for nearly ten years. Because her daughters lived in others states Jeanne spent many family holidays and birthdays with us. She was an asset at holiday meals, not only because of her fun personality but because she was a terrific cook! Jeanne was defined by her many acts of kindness. She helped as my mother became ill, stopping by with dinner weekly. She befriended the friendless and loved unconditionally. I'm sad for how she was taken from us so soon.

I worked with Jeanne at Sears Credit in Des Moines and remember the day she started in Des Moines as if it were yesterday.  We hit it off immediately, it was as if two long lost friends had come together again, or maybe it was because we both enjoyed teasing Dave Drake so much!  I saw Jeanne a couple years ago and we talked about the time her grandson Doug had his photo taken at Sears with Santa and myself as Mrs. Claus, Doug was just a few months old at the time.  Jeanne was one of the best trainers Sears had - she had the patience of Job.  I was very sad to hear of her passing, but she now rests in peace.  God bless you Jeanne for I too will miss you, but will never forget you.

Jeanne was a remarkable woman, and a dear friend whom I was honored to know for an all too brief time. I will fondly remember working with her in numerous Toastmasters' meetings, and always treasure our private conversations. I am saddened by her passing, and rejoice that she is now "home' with the Lord.
